Cartoon Brew blog has a clip of what the adaptation of Windsor McCay’s comic strip Little Nemo could have been like…

Here’s the test sequence, animated by the legend of anime Hayao Miyazaki and directed by Yoshifumi Kondo: Link [embedded YouTube] | Longer version at Google VideoThanks John "Widgett" Robinson!

I love Ghibli. Seriously. I've got many films of them and dear god I still love them all. You should check out "on your mark" http://video.google.de/videoplay?docid=4828830237343658961&q=miyazaki+ on+your+mark&total=51&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=7

its generally agreed that miyazaki has never made a bad movie.. there may be some that you like more than others, but not a bad one in the bunch. not many directors can match that... and that Nemo movie that was made wasn't all that great..

This animating is very moving, The child's expressions and bravery.. Its such a rotten shame this was never completed, it would have been a world wide classic.

A nemo film was released about this time 86 or 87 and it was below standard, kind of a kids matinee film. That may have killed this film. But what a shame.

I feel blessed to have seen this little piece of it.. Thank you.

This is the Other nemo one I was talking about. Not very memorable.. Nothing like that amazing clip Miyazaki worked on.

A dream come true! McCay's work is deserves, no!, demands the rare eye, kid gloves, and high level of detail Miyazaki possesses. Lucky this project didn't go to an American studio. They would spoil it all with sarcastic/scatological humor, stupid sidekicks, and ugly, ugly CGI.
