Steven Backman, Toothpick Artist Extraordinaire

By Alex in Art, Pictures on Apr 7, 2008 at 8:45 pm

That’s toothpick artist extraordinaire Steven Backman, who has been creating toothpick sculptures for over 30 years. He’s holding his toothpick radio-controlled yacht, which is actually seaworthy (okay, pool-worthy). That little beauty is made from 10,000 toothpicks.

Exactly, and this is why I like the chopstick guy better.

    A) he recycled B) He build something anyone could USE.

I cannot find good quality toothpicks anymore. I do my own art with them and I need the good old fashioned diamond toothpicks that are uniform. Not the new outsourced ones they mass produce that look like splinters torn from a log you buy online or at the grocery store. If anyone knows where to order good quality toothpicks in bulk worthy of making intricate sculptures out of, then please let me know. My email address is vinneydt@yahoo.com Thanks
