Here’s a wonderful gallery of painted hand art inspired by and a tribute to the work of the late Mario Mariotti, which you have probably seen in email forwards. Produced by Tidò Communication in collaboration with the Archives Mariotti and Edizioni Corraini. In Italian. Link -via J-Walk Blog

I’ve seen is art on television when I was young. He was showing the process of the painting each time. His work was simple with a beautiful touch of creativity.

Wouldn’t have thought to give it a look had it not been for the comments, but I’m glad I did. The eye balls were a little creepy though.

I agree with OddNumebr. The eyeballs are a little too creepy. HOWEVER I will say that there some where they don’t even look like hands! Very creative…in a sometimes creepy way.

That was really well done. The flamingo was especially beautiful.

In the first couple of pictures I couldn’t put my finger, so to speak, on what was bothering me about the composition. Then when I saw the female hand I realized it was the hair on the guy’s hands and forearms. The hair was actually a bonus on some of the animals and especially the monster, however, I think overall he should definitely loose the hair.

Agreed about the hair thing. The fuzzy track runner wasn’t very… effectual. I do adore this idea, though.

This reminds me of lejo (lejo.nu), only lejo doesn’t use paint.

The flamingo is the best, IMHO. The dalmatian is also great.

    The finger-turned-pen is just disturbing.

Sonia, thank you- I found your post to be a good explanation of who Mario Mariotti was. So many of us get those pictures forwarded to us without any background on who did them.
