I remember seeing something like this before, except it was just Garfield’s speech bubbles removed, so it really was just Jon talking to his cat.

I remember reading a thesis about whether or not Jon can hear Garfield or if he even exists at all.

First they came for Lyman
Next they came for Nermal,

Hilarious and tragic.
If only somebody could make Doonesbury funny, but I suspect it’s beyond help.

like they say, you can do anything at all to any garfield strip and it instantly makes the lame series funny. remove garfield, redraw him as a normal cat, switch jon with conan the barbarian. anything.

Thank you “the man” for making me choke on my lunch with hysteria. Brilliant response!

Actually, removing Garfield’s thought bubbles was the first one of these and it works much better than just removing Garfield, if you ask me.
See also Lasagna Cat.

The members of SomethingAwful.com’s forums have been doing this for ages. It is hilarious, though.

Garfield as “Realfield”
http://juannavarro.wordpress.com/2007/12/21/realfield-like-lasagna-too /This “replaced with amazing replica” would work with other corny strips. Imagine if we replaced “The Lockhorns” with “The Realhorns”!
Ugh. Bluhd! Not funny!

I always wondered if John could hear Garfield - after all, the cat is thinking.
It’s like The Family Guy - sometimes they understand Stewie, sometimes they don’t.
