Working in a hotel we have a couple of areas to write notes about the guests. Usually it is things like

“CC XXXX1006 for guarantee only”
“Guest requests quiet room”
“Will want rollaway”

But sometimes we end up with messages that say

“Guest is a pain!!!! Watch out!!!!”
“Guest yells frequently”

People never see it, they couldn’t. It doesn’t happen very often and in the case of a hotel, it helps other front desk clerks stay aware of troublesome guests.

Last week I went in a restaurant where the waiter was ordering everything from memory. By the dumb look on his face, I had the feeling it was not right, so I said “wow, you’re good, you’re not taking the order on a paper, you must have a good memory…*hint*hint*” His answer was his dumb look again.
Guess what? He messed up the order. We had to return some food.
I think he put the same message in the system but he messed up

I’m a waiter and ive done the same thing. you can add messages for the cooks, usually an addition/ subtraction to the food, and every once in a while they get printed out on the ticket. I dunno why it happens those few times. I was lucky enough to catch mine before it went out to the table but it could have been different. the bottom line is, waiters deal with alot of bullshit and alot of dumb people so you develop a dark sense of humor. I can say that ive said a million rude, crude things about people but ive never done anything to their food/ drinks. If i didnt get it off my chest by joking id definitely be tempted to get revenge in other ways.

Not likely; I’m sure it was something the waiter entered by hand, probably more for the amusement of the kitchen staff than anything else.

Most likely nothing. Have you guys worked retail or in a restaurant before? If you’re there long enough, you start to lose faith in humanity. The person was probably just letting off steam because I wouldn’t doubt this customer was completely condescending to the staff.

I work at a large retail video chain and I’ve typed offensive things about people who belittle me on their accounts, just to get a rise out of my coworkers (who keep me sane) I erase those messages immediately, but this somehow slipped and ended up on the receipt. I think both parties are at fault here.
