I have noticed that, when people read handwritten signs, they sometimes are unable to tell the difference between a lower and upper case “L”. I can understand using some lowercase letters like “i” and “y”, to stylize the handwriting. But why confuse people that only know what a Coiiege is?

I take issue with that signage. I don’t think seniors are *only* free food. They are also potentially a source of cheap, renewable energy.

I think that there are many problems with that sign, and the least of which is the lower case L’s.

So freaking annoying. As a graphic designer, and a man who just thinks about what he writes. Right up there with unnecessary quotation marks and that the deformed Ss and Ns that people write when they’re drawing outlines of letters and aren’t really thinking about what they’re doing.

Not so sure this doesn’t make sense. . . Look at the sign above, is there any room for the _ on the L . . . Not really. Either they have to change the font size or cut off the _’s You all got the point. . . What’s the problem?

If you look at the guy’s blog, there are lots of phot examples given. Fair enough… If you examine these, though, you’ll see many of the letters suffer from misused case. You’ll see a small “i” in the middle of a bunch of upper case words, and capital “A” amongst lower case letters. And there are others… The “L” is hardly the only victim. It does look worse (IMO), though as the lowercase L should read as an “I”.
