  Tattoo parlors were illegal in Massachusetts until quite recently - 2002, perhaps? - as well.

  Ask any Masshole over 40 where they got their tattoos and 9 times out of 10 they’ll say Newport, RI.

  I would also mention Adolf Loos’s 1908 essay “Ornament and Crime” equating tattoos with criminal mischief. I wonder what this had to do with social consciousness in re: tatoos.

  I’ve always wanted to get myself a tattoo, however, my parents are pretty much against it. Oh well. If I ever do have kids I’ll probably tattoo their names on my arms though.
