Russian Scientists Creates Time Machine
Two Russian scientists claim a device created to investigate the origins of the universe could become the world’s first ever time machine. Scientists say the vast atom-smashing machine at the European Particle Physics Centre near Geneva could create a time tunnel.
We will probably have to wait until April 30, 2008 before it’s completed.

blu_ray Cosmetics
How embarrassing for HD DVD… It’s not enough that blu_ray kicked their butts in the high definition DVD format war, now the beauty industry has snubbed it in favor of blu_ray, too!

Indonesians to Spray Train Roof Riders
After failing to discourage people from riding the train on its roof, Indonesian authorities have developed a new tactic: spray ‘em with color liquids!
Indonesian commuters riding on the roofs of trains will be sprayed with coloured liquid so that security officers can identify and arrest them, a report said on Saturday.
"We will confiscate their IDs and give them a ticket," Kereta Api regional spokesman Akhmad Sujadi was quoted as saying.
"We will send a copy of the ticket to their family, their local neighbourhood unit head, their employer, or, if they’re students, their headmasters," added Sujadi, who described the move as "unique".

The Aborigines Have a New Hobby: Camel Hunting
Aborigines in Australia found a new hobby to stave off boredom: they go camel hunting!
The camels were introduced in the 19th century from India to haul supplies for explorers, pioneers and prospectors. They became redundant with the advent of railways and motor cars and thousands were released into the wild.
However, they adapted to Australian conditions extraordinarily well and are now considered a pest. More than a million roam the Outback, mostly in South Australia, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Biologists say the population is doubling every eight years.
They are seen as a growing threat to desert ecosystems and Outback cattle properties because they foul water holes and barge through wire fences.
The initiative was actually sanctioned by the police and was started to help young Aborigines have something constructive to do:
Like many isolated Aboriginal settlements, Kintore offers few jobs and almost no recreational opportunities. Boredom and frustration drive teenagers to crime, alcohol, cannabis use and petrol sniffing – a habit which can leave addicts wheelchair-bound or dead. [...]
"The young fellas are pretty good at tracking the camels," said Tom Holyoake, a white youth worker tasked with preventing substance abuse in the town of 300 people.
"When they find a camel they shoot it, butcher it, bring the meat back and share it with their families."

Lisa the Geep

Meet Lisa the Geep – yes, a cross between a goat and a sheep!
She was born after an unscheduled amorous encounter on the farm of Klaus Exsternbrink, in Schwerte, in northern Germany’s Ruhr Valley. One of his young billy goats leapt over a fence and had a passionate liaison with a ewe.
The result a month ago was Lisa – resembling a lamb in shape and stature, but with the colouring and agile back legs of a goat.
Her mother seems unfazed by her unusual offspring and has raised her happily so far.
Now Lisa is booked into a specialist animal medical school in Hanover for genetic tests to determine her hybrid status. "These whims of nature are extremely rare," said the school’s Professor Karl-Heinz Waldmann.
"But goats are known for their strong sex drive."

The Girl Who Eats Only Tic Tacs
Meet Natalie Cooper, a 17-year-old teenager who has a mystery illness that makes her sick every time she eats anything.
Well, almost anything. She can eat one thing that doesn’t make her sick: Tic tac mint!
For reasons that doctors are unable to explain, Tic tacs are the only thing she can stomach, meaning she has to get the rest of her sustenance from a specially formulated feed through a tube.

Police Found Crack in Man's Butt
Best headline EVAR! Here’s the story: After receiving a tip that drug deal was happening, Washington D.C. police raided a downtown home.
There, they found a man named Pierre Lynch, hiding 15 plastic bags of crack cocaine in his buttocks.
So naturally, the press had a field day with the title. Why, it practically wrote itself: Link – via Look at This …
How Can You Sleep

Maybe if you take a step back, or squint your eyes, you’ll see that French artist Tania Mouraud’s 30 m (98 ft) by 14.5 m (48 ft) text reads: "How Can You Sleep"
Mother of All Telephotos
That’s the Canon 1200/5.6L USM telephoto lens that can take a clear photo of an object a mile away. Oh, and at the price of $99,000, no wonder photographers call it the mother of all telephotos:
The Canon 1200/5.6L USM (priced at $99,000… and if you live out of state we don’t need to charge you tax!) has been built on a special-order basis since 1993, and the ‘official word’ is there are "more than twelve, less than twenty" of them in existence. With a price tag equivalent to a pair of his-and-her sports coupes, they were produced at the rate of about 2-per-year and a delivery time of about 18 months. National Geographic magazine, Sports Illustrated, Canon Professional Services, and a few well-heeled enthusiasts are counted among the fortunate few who own these unique optics. A box of donuts says the Feds probably have a few squirreled away somewhere, but this is something we can neither confirm nor deny. What you get for your money is a monster lens with an angle of view of about 2° on a full-frame 35 mm camera.

Catch of the Day: Sacks of Cocaine!
The town of Bluefields in Nicaragua has a secret: its people don’t have to work because every week, sometimes everyday, sacks of cocaine, tossed by drug traffickers avoiding US border patrol, drift in from the sea:
Bluefields is a creation of the gods of geography. Located halfway between the cocaine labs of Colombia and the 300 million noses of the United States, Bluefields is ground zero for cocaine transportation. Nicaraguan waters are near Colombian territorial limits, making the area extremely popular with cocaine smugglers using very small, very fast fishing boats. [...]
When the Americans get close, the traffickers toss the cocaine overboard, both to eliminate evidence and lighten their load in an escape attempt.[...]
Those bales of cocaine float, and the currents bring them west right into the chain of islands, beaches and cays which make up the huge lagoons that surround Bluefields on Nicaragua’s Atlantic coast.
"There are no jobs here, unemployment is 85 per cent," says Moises Arana, who was mayor of Bluefields from 2001 to 2005.
"It is sad to say, but the drugs have made contributions. Look at the beautiful houses, those mansions come from drugs. We had a women come into the local electronics store with a milk bucket stuffed full of cash. She was this little Miskito [native] woman and she had $80,000."
Hujo Sugo, a historian of Bluefields, says the floating coke has created a new local hobby.
"People here now go beachcombing for miles, they walk until the find packets. Even the lobster fisherman now go out with the pretence of fishing but really they are looking for la langosta blanca – the white lobster."

Shatner Never Watched Star Trek!
Whaaaaaa? William Shatner admitted that he’s never watched Star Trek!
The 76-year-old actor said he had seen neither the cult science-fiction television programme nor any of the films which propelled him to fame.
He said he hated watching himself perform on screen, saying “I suck”.
Speaking in an interview for his internet video blog with his daughter Lisabeth, he said: “I never watched Star Trek.
“I have not even seen any of the Star Trek movies. I don’t watch myself.
“When I direct and have to look at filmed scenes of myself, I suck.”
He said he had also not watched any of his performances playing a lawyer in Boston Legal, the television series, for which he won an Emmy and a Golden Globe award. Shatner added that he did not have any memorabilia from Star Trek either.
