Hmmmm… I have to wonder about this. Recently the New York Times Sunday Magazine had a piece on how elephants are going insane. There was even an incident where a group of young elephants raped and murdered a rhinoceros. People studying this have concluded that the elephants are becoming psychotic as a result of drastic loss of social structure; it takes like 30 elephants to properly raise an elephant child.

So I wonder if this really has “always” happened among dolphins, or if it’s also a recent development in reaction to their dwindling numbers.

I seriously doubt any true marine expert said “that these displays of attacks on non-rival, non-predatory, peace-loving porpoises and, more shockingly, of dolphin infanticide, may have always taken place.”

Peace-loving porpoises? Give me a break. It’s the ocean, these are animals. Top level predators. We’ll understand them better when we stop looking at projecting human ideals on them.

Hi there. You link doesn’t seem to be working due to it’s format. Well, I think it would probably work better if you try hosting it on a temporary server such as Imageshack.us. That way you won’t have to worry about embedding it since that won’t work.

This behavior has been noted in the Moray Firth in Scotland for some time.More proof that dolphins are evil!
