I remember these from the early 1980s. The girlfriend of the guy who worked at the skateboard shop had these, she had a beehive hairdoo and popped gum all the time. I think she wished she was Debbie Harry. Seeing these again really takes me back to 1981-1982.

i’m going to try and recreate a pair of these for myself… i need some. as far as comfort goes, i don’t think there’s much trouble, they look to made out of the same stuff sweats are made of. lol, if you have to pee, pull them down like pants, it’s not like they’re overalls.

Hahah, how interesting! I’m not sure if anyone else has seen the movie, “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,” but I just saw it yesterday with my niece, and near the end there is a scene where the best friend of the main character is wearing those same shoes! I know that was a run-on sentence, but that was really quite interesting. I’m a scene kid more-so, and I would really like a pair of these. Haha.

I actually really like these a lot, I have a relatively average-ish small waist size and a very generic shoe size lol. if i found these in a shop i would absolutely buy them 
also people are thinking to much, they aren’t ‘lace ups’ thats the illusion, it looks like elastic string to me while the waist is drawstring like pajamas. so as long as you’re not particularly fat or skinny, you just buy your shoe size and 1 size fit all.
btw the confessions of a teenage drama queen is where i saw them first as well, and they look much better as a converse twist, black fabric white ‘lace’ strings
