Cheeseburger in a Can

The secret to a good cheeseburger is its freshness. Hot off the grill, with crisp vegetables if you like. Not the kind of food you’d think to put in a can. The graphics on this German site make it clear this product is intended to pack for outdoor sports such as canoeing, but I can’t help but feel you should go with something you’d expect to eat out of a can. Maybe soup. Link -via Cynical-C

Steve from thesneeze.com is planning to taste test this soon. Check out some of the other things he has tested on the site.

When you think about it… it’s a pretty good idea for camping.

There is no way that cheeseburger came out of that can.

dang! i want to order but they don’t ship to US. If anyone of you European types read this is willing to order a couple on my behalf and ship to me (one to open and examine, one to keep for posterity), i’ll send you one of my blinkybugs (handmade blinking electronic insect art thing)…

So, this is how humanity ends…with a burger in a can. However, being a zombie/post-apocalyptic fan I could imagine having a celler of these babies as a food supply being quite useful! No more beans or creamed corn from the can! :D

I translated some information from the home page at this vendor, and they say their food is freeze-dried. You add water and wait for it to reconstitute. Now, I don’t know if this specifically applies to the cheeseburger, but it kind of makes me wish I hadn’t translated it.

From my many culinary adventures of trying foreign canned products, I must say that this makes me want to reverse-swallow.

    AI: LOL

It makes me think of those nice pics in Mackydies restaurant types : what you have in your cardboard/styro box is never the same…

A friend of mine was working for an ice cream company ; he had to organized a photo shoot for a new packaging. Because of the light strong heat melting the product, they used painted scooped balls of clay. The result was amazing.

A friend of mine has a daughter that collects weird canned food and her best is “Breakfast in a Can” from the UK. Apparently it is beyond vile.

    Apparently it’s not so bad:

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the quality of some reconstituted food, but this is just weird.
