Would have been funnier if he got bombed by about 100 birds at once, after the first one.

“shoulda seen that coming” – looks up – pelt, pelt, pelt…

    Would have been funnier if…
    1. Man finishes cleaning mouth.
    2. Man looks up and curses the bird.
    3. A cacophony of birds begin chirping.
    4. A bucket worth of fake bird poop dumps on him.

There is no such thing as a cacophony of birds. There could be a group of birds who burst into a cacophonous song. There could also be a group of birds that burst into a song of pure cacophony.

Please, no flaming. I’m not trying to sound pretentious. I’m just trying to point out the incorrect use of a word.

I also have a strong feeling that this video is fake. It could also be a viral promotion for a new bird horror flick.

@Jason E. – it’s cool that you’re interested in word usage; to expand upon that, if you haven’t done so already you might find it interesting to browse the OED for its etymology, or look into linguistic commentary on ‘prescriptivism vs. descriptivism,’ or heck, read the preface Samuel Johnson wrote for his Dictionary of the English Language (lord help me, I LOVE Samuel Johnson). Sure, there’s a lot to be said for standardization but it’s also exciting to realize how very -fluid- language is and has always been, and how illusory the idea of “absolute, fixed, immutable” word usage actually is. I say this as someone with strong prescriptivist yearnings myself (because it IS so much fun, darn it) … but do look into it if you haven’t before, it truly is a neat viewpoint to consider …

Jason, language is driven by popular usage, not grammar teachers. You need a little revolution in your life.

And you’re wrong. The video is a promotion for a new brand of bottled water that does an exceptional job of removing that lingering sense of bird poop in your mouth.

you’re all wrong. it’s a video promoting the exceptionally improved dental hygiene of those who regularly eat/drink bird poo.

“should have seen that one coming,” [look up, mouth open] priceless.

Oh, and Jason, when you say “not trying to sound pretentious,” does that really mean, “I know this is really pretentious, but if I add a disclaimer, I am not being such a huge dick.”

Jason E.’s got a long road ahead of him if he’s going to start correcting vocabulary in blog comments.

I’m with Jason. You can try to justify the fluidity of language, but at the end of the day I judge you when you misuse words. Mistakes like this aren’t deliberate forays into the new frontier of language, they’re just stupid slip-ups.

That bird expressed perfectly my feeling toward all idio-tainment reporters. Actually, toward most everyone on tv.

Lydia, I don’t think most people care if you judge them by their blog grammar.
