The first entry, about CERN, is not true. Contrary to what the list says, the LHC is not powerful enough to do that.

This list lost all credibility with the addition of “divine intervention” as a plausible end to the world. Basically saying that although there is zero scientific support for the the theory, it has “credibility” because a lot of people believe it. A lot of people also used to believe that the Sun rotated around the Earth… that didn’t make it true.

“Forever Peace” by Joe Haldeman is largely about the CERN thing… but the super collider in question was the circumference of jupiter.
I have no idea why i remember that.

There are many other ways the world could end listed at this site:

The Omega Point was flaky.
The “divine intervention” one wasn’t so much about an actual divine intervention, but about what might happen if religious zealots obtain access to really powerful weaponry.
Hopefully, these weren’t listed in order of likelihood, since alien attack was above ecosystem collapse.

Well, since we’re all f*cked, sorry, doomed, would you kindly rejoin my nice survival community?
You can give me your money and your virgins too. -

Here’s one that should be added to the list: The flaky leader of some nation with nukes and a big red button.
Always scary to think about it going down like that.
