Blue Sky Art Deters Vandalism

Artist Stig Evans found a way to deter taggers to vandalize abandoned buildings with graffiti: paint images of sunny skies and white clouds on the windows!

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "It’s made a real difference to the area.

"Even though that building has been derelict for some months it’s not been vandalised.

"The residents seem to have welcomed the idea, it’s improved the look of the area and their quality of life.

"It’s unusual and quite calming. People seem to have a respect for the art of it."

Graffiti artists aren’t punks. They are artists, and they won’t hit beautiful buildings, sculptures, murals, houses, cars, anything in nature. If you see some spray paint on one of these sorts of things, it’s probably some random moron.
