umm, melts the lighter? This sounds like a BRILLIANT plan.
Why not reflect off a cup of water with some olive oil or other non combustible instead?
Even an “empty” lighter will still have some butane in it which can cause issues after a while.

It’s pretty dumb if the laser pointer is really melting the plastic of the lighter
