Having owned and bred goldens for the last 20 years I have a little experience with their shedding. In answer to Miss Cellania's question about how it's different from a regular comb - it's finely toothed and they're shaped so that when a hair gets between teeth, the teeth grab onto the hair. She's a husky/shepherd mix and this was in the summer so her coat wasn't long like a golden's, but there was an insane amount of fur everywhere, and it filled up an entire standardish sized trash can.
