I have one.

I have two ragdoll cats that have fur like a rabbit's and nothing I found on the market worked. So, the one day they went on sale at 50% off at the local pet store I went in and bought one. It still set me back around $50 but here's the thing...it worked! That day I let hubby do the deed and he shrunk my cat by about a third! I had no idea he was all fuzz!

it's more fun just to shave your dog every once in a while. It is even more fun to shave your cat.

(there is a naughty joke there somewhere...hmmm...)

It's just a flea comb mounted on a fancy handle. I've been combing my cat with one for years (a flea comb).

The furminator is awesome. I was skeptical at first, but it does get that much hair out and I have a cat! It was crazy!

Oh I think all that fur is really from that golden. Having owned and bred goldens for the last 20 years I have a little experience with their shedding. Dogs are social animals and are constantly trying to grow enough fur to make a new friend for themselves every day!

I also have one of these. I've got a Black Lab-Border Collie-Blue Healer mix and the thing is amazing. I couldn't believe how much undercoat it pulled out and it has greatly reduced shedding. In answer to Miss Cellania's question about how it's different from a regular comb - it's finely toothed and they're shaped so that when a hair gets between teeth, the teeth grab onto the hair. Quite ingenious really.

I have one of those for my cats. I also have a big-ass scar on my forearm from when I tried to use it on said cats. It worked though - an unbelievable amount of fur came out of the cat. It's not worth the blood though...

What makes this different from a regular comb? Is it fine-tooth or something? It hard for me to get a good look.

Yep, the thing really works. I've got two American Eskimo dogs. Every time I use the furminator on them I accumulate enough undercoat hair to make a a third all-white dog!

We have a similar comb for our cats. It works great, but they both loathe the thing. The dog seemed okay with it, though.

I use something similar on my dog, except the handle is more oval-shaped. The comb part is the same though, and let me tell you, the first time I used it on her, it looked like she had spawned a twin. She's a husky/shepherd mix and this was in the summer so her coat wasn't long like a golden's, but there was an insane amount of fur everywhere, and it filled up an entire standardish sized trash can. The amount of fur was surprising, so it could be possible for those photos to be real.

I've been trying for so long to get a hold of one of these here in Sweden, it's impossible. They're available at Amazon, but it's one of those products where shipping it to Sweden just isn't an option.

Anyone who've tried it, is it good?
