Likewise, the full name of Santa Fe, NM, is “La Villa Real de la Santa Fe de San Francisco de Asís,” which translates as “the Royal City of the Holy Faith of Saint Francis of Assisi!”

I read once that the abbreviation from “El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula” to “L.A.” held some kind of world record.

I think it could probably be translated to make it not so literal, so it actually says “The Town of Our Lady, the Queen of the Porciúncula River Angels”, but now I’m just focusing on minutia.
