World’s Biggest Building Coming to Moscow

Crystal Island, the world’s biggest building, is set to be built in Moscow within five years. The plans are for a 27 million square foot interior! The cost? Four billlion dollars.

The statistics for the project are absolutely staggering; floor area alone will be four times the size of Pentagon in Washington DC. The incredible 1500 ft. tall multi use structure will feature 900 apartments, 3000 hotel rooms, an international school for 500 students, cinemas, a theater, sports complex and much more. There will also be a 16,500 space underground parking lot for all the visitors. The Crystal Island visitors will be able to enjoy panoramic views of Moscow on the viewing platforms located 980 ft. above ground.

    My thoughts exactly, kevin - it'll just accelerate urban decay like his many large-scale public housing buildings.

    All I think about when I see plans for this sort of thing, anywhere in the world, is:

    GARBAGE. RUBBISH. TRASH.

    Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

    And I don't just mean all the packets and cans. I mean WATER and EXCREMENT.

    No pun intended, but who's going to clean the shit?

    How about the AIR in there?

    The Energy it will take to keep it running?

    I imagine within 10 years of this being lived in, there will be piles of garbage and waste everywhere.

    And for those that decide to live in it, they had better think about how all that shite is going to be moved around.

    Ironic that after a post titled Planet Earth with a video depicting some of the most beautiful sites in the world, there's a post showing a new building that would have apartments, shopping, entertainment, etc all enclosed in one area so that no one ever had to leave and see anything else on Planet Earth...

    I was so confused for a minute. . . It's just the biggest, as in floor space. It isn't anywhere close to the tallest?
