When Robot Programmers Get Bored (Video)

What do robot programmers do when they get bored? Apparently this one decided to transform the robot into a fun(?) ride.

Looks like a great way to get a Darwin Award - "robot programmer killed by weekend project"

In Legoland Denmark they have this as an official ride. Two people can sit at the tip of an industrial robot and then be whirled around, albeit not as close to the ground as this chap. It's fun, I went on a ride with my six-year old (no, really) and we want to do it again next year.

has any one but me noticed that these are two different robots in two different locations? this looks more like a testing facility for amusement rides rather than an elaborate prank by a programmer.

I am a programmer, but I would never want my life to depend on weather or not i made a typo.

As Majikthise said, this is a legitimate product from robotics manufacturer KUKA. Universal Studios is building a Harry Potter ride in Orlando using this technology.

I dunno gravy, that seems *worryingly* close to splattering that guys brains in an elegently streaked arc across the floor. And then snapping off his legs for good measure.

    better soundtracks for this clip:

    1. domo arigato, mister roboto
    2. safety dance

though would be safety-er if he wore a helmet. and a big yellow devo jumpsuit. but that's just me.

I think this looks like a lot of fun. Needs a better song and some safety gear for the guy riding.
