Perfect example of why the world generally has negative stereotypes of Americans.

John Lennon said it best... "Let it be".

An over-moneyed "big ugly dumb North American" who is "out boating" sees a native animal doing what it is supposed to do, and has to molest it.

Look, but don't touch.

i want a sloth as a pet soo bad.. they sleep somewhere around 20 hours a day, but if you've ever seen one sleeping, it's cuteness alone is reason enough to own one. i want to name him frank. or hector.

It takes sloths an inordinately long time to drown because of their slow metabolisms. They are actually really good swimmers, it just takes them long time to get where they are going. (Thank you Animal Planet!)

okay i dont think im the only one that knows this... or i shouldn't be
but sloths are actually relatively very good swimmers, its not a rare occasion, they live in the rain forest and when it floods they tend to come down and look for new trees and food
they actually swim better than they walk

Well from what I've heard sloths rarely leave their tree only to go to the bathroom. But maybe his tree fell over so he had to switch.

I think what saves them is that they had up in trees 9/10 of their lives.

When I was in Brazil, I took a short excursion to the Amazons. In the middle of the night a sloth swum to our boat in the middle of the river and climbed aboard, apparently looking for food.

Our guide grabbed him by the scruff of the neck, showed him to everyone on board, then sent him overboard again behind the boat.

How does the sloth just not attract every single predator and the jungle? Does their meat taste bad? You'd think at that speed they would be long-extinct.

Could it be that they are saved by their sheer cuteness? I want one.
