An Incredible Football Comeback Play.

On October 27th, Division III Trinity University was losing to Millsaps College 24 to 21 with two seconds left on the clock. With 61 yards to the end zone, Trinity was clearly out of field goal range, so they performed what must be one of the craziest (and greatest) last-second plays ever.

I never understood why there were so few “rugby” passes in NFL. Sometimes it just looks like the thing to do. Or maybe they just like to be clubbered ;)

i saw this on FSN’s Final Score. i think it was like 15 laterals for the touchdown and the win…. i am still in awe at how they managed to accomplish that play!

Wow, I live in the same town as Millsaps and I never would’ve thought anything from Jackson, Mississippi would end up on here

You see it more in college, but you still dont see a lot of it because in American football, a lateral or backward pass is live if it touches the ground, and it can be fielded by either team’s players.

So a backward lateral, which gets intercepted or ends up in the hands of a defensive player is a turnover or worse: it could result result in a defensive touchdown.

In rugby, if Im not mistaken, when a lateral touches the ground, the team on defense is awarded a scrum. They just cant pick up the ball and run for a try.

I was wondering when you’d feature this. This is truly a historical play.

That’s how football used to be played. And should be still.
