My mom says that when I was about four, she took me to see Bambi in theaters, and she was worried about what would happen when Bambi's mom got shot. Luckily for her, I apparently had to go to the bathroom right before that scene came up!

Snow white scared the shit out of me.

The scariest is probably Bambi Meets Godzilla. I first saw it when I was about 11 years old, I laughed, I cried.

Hmm, nope it didn't scare me at all. I loved Thumper too! Dad let me watch scary movies all the time. So I was already numb to much of what usually scared most kids.

But Dad had to take me across the street to Mr. Donut for a treat after we watched Charlotte's Web. I cried and cried. I still love spiders. Didn't care much for Wilbur though.

The saddest Disney movie is "Old Yeller". To do a 'study' on kids being 'scared' of Bambi is a freakin' joke! I agree with Carruthers - 'D' sounds like he's been ingesting too many amphetamines...

Bambi is an animated work of art. The backgrounds are some of the most beautiful you'll ever see in an animated movie. I agree that the inclusion of Bambi in this article is asinine, and yet the very fact that after all these years one of the earliest feature length animations continues to live so vividly in the collective mind of our culture just goes to show how brilliant a movie it was and still is.

Marine-- I completly agree. Even to this day Ursula terrifies me and I'm 25! My mom still tells the story of having to take me out of the theatre because I was in hysterics after that movie. Bambi not as much though.

Huh, I was never scared by Bambi, nor did I think it was all that sad. Most Disney kids are missing a parent anyway. If you ask me, Dumbo is the saddest Disney movie. Don't know about a scariest though.

mom wouldn't let us watch it when we were little. something about sudden, loud murder of child protagonist's mom didn't sit well with her.

we had all the bambi characters as stuffed animals and other kid comforts, though.

then by the time i was 5 we were watching gremlins (ok, i had to leave the movie theater cuz it was too scary) and poltergeist (for some reason we saw that one over and over.. still freaky, though). yeah, had lots of scary-movie-induced nightmares as a kid, but none involving a hunter shooting my mom in the forest, so there you go.

Bambi didn't scare me but the whole bit about everyone finding love in the spring created some unrealistic expectations. Heck, even the skunk found a soulmate.

I was a bit concerned when Bambi didn't faze my kids at all. After all, they've already lost more parents than I will ever have.

Well now we know the reason why America is so fucked up now - there's the culprit!

If only the people around the world who've actually never been to the USA but have only seen the place in the news or the movies came to the USA for a visit, they would realise how pathetic and frail America really is, on the inside - they would instantly realize that the news and the movies are nothing like how people really are.
