Halloween Pet Costumes

It must be Halloween season … Say No to Crack has its pick of the Top 10 Pet Costumes, which includes selections for both dogs and cats.

The picture on the left is actually not a costume – it’s actually not even a true painted cat. Just a spoof from the Book Why Paint Cats by Burton Silver and Heather Busch.

Why Paint Cats was actually inspired by another strange book, Why Cat Paints, also by the same authors.

Why Cats Paint was a hilarious hoax that exposed its fakeness with tongue in cheek descriptions of the feline painters. eg, “While her renderings are obviosly equine in theme, some have postulated that they could be bovine, canine, porcupine, or even Lichtenstein.” (paraphrasing.)
