Neatorama reader Ben Wojdyla saw our Smack Instant Noodle post and sent us this one: the Pot Noodle. Here’s the photo that he took at a Sainsbury Local in London back in 2004. Thanks Ben!

It's been a stretch with a lot of the "funny" food items lately.
You would have to be on pot to be amused by this one.

    "Whoa, dude. Pot noodles..."

I'm a bit dumb, I thought the Smack was amusing because it's like spanking 'doh, pot & smack, I live such a sheltered life.

Pot Noodle is a national institution, both loved for funny adverts and derided at the same time. It's probably a student staple.

    There's many others.

Next thing you know they'll have a picture of Mr Brain's Faggots (an actual UK product in case you weren't aware). While a lot of these things are genuinely humorous, the 'pot' joke is tenuous at best, given that the noodles are clearly in a pot. In the words of another ad slogan, 'it does exactly what it says on the tin'.

Pot noodles are quite common... just are not commonly available in the US...sucks too. I have to go to this unknown super small Japanese market to find pot noodles.

Ok... In defense of some Americans (cause these days we tend to get bashed at the drop of a hat) I didn't find this one amusing and I am American.

I get the idea that "pot" can also mean weed (meh...dumb. *yawn*). But we use the word "pot" (kettle) in the states like most English speaking countries. So its still quite a stretch to find the humor. potluck, potpourri, potholder, potpie, etc.

Sheesh... people are pathetically quick to bash the US these days. Talk about taking any opportunity you can get. *eyeroll*

Well, the sooner you get your idiot president out of office, the sooner your country will regain some respect.

...and stop the "global police" act, your country's actions are both lauded and debunked, commonly the latter. why oh why is the world so corrupt?

btw pot noodles rock, you can get them here in Australia too!

I am Pol and I like Pot Noodle

    It will be Pol's Pot....noodle.

I used to love em but then I discovered the fantastic Noodle Packs from China and Korea and they are the business.

Though harder to find than Polt Noodles....which I still love...damn them

LISTER: I tell you one thing: I've been to a parallel universe, I've seen time running backwards, I've played pool with planets, and I've given birth to twins, but I never thought in my entire life I'd taste an edible Pot Noodle.

I've yet to find one. They make the contents out of the same stuff they make the pots.
