One of my professors from college began to - after having mastered (and I mean mastered) pencil portraiture and several other forms of art - settled into painting candy dishes in supremely tiny formats. Like around the size of postage stamps. The thought is that it involves the viewer individually and uniquely with the canvas (when viewed in person).
