Brebner on USA and Canada

"Americans are benevolently ignorant about Canada, while Canadians are malevolently well informed about the United States."

- John Bartlett Brebner, Canadian historian (1895-1957)

#4 I find being well informed about tubgirl has probably helped me avoid ever seeing it. goatse too.

It's better to know why you should avoid some things at all costs to prevent curiosity getting the better of you.

Well, a 50-yr-old quote at least (since he died in 1957), but probably still valid.

What's interesting is that despite being dominated by American culture, Canadians haven't managed to fall into the melting pot entirely.

Man, nothing is worse than a recent Canadian immigrant, they think it's hilarious that we know more about Cuban or Nicaraguan or Chinese politics than Canadian politics. Dudes, Castro is way way way more important than Mulroney, ok? Sorry, but it's true.

WTF?! Castro is more important than Mulroney? you must be a troll, because Mulroney hasn't been PM of Canada for 14 years.
How much exactly do you need to know about Cuban politics, when there's been one guy in charge for about 50 years?
so depressing...
