H. R. Giger At Work

Posted by Ali S. in Arts & Crafts, Movies & SciFi, Video Clips on September 24, 2007 at 10:58 am

I’m sure many folks here have seen the multitude of sketches, prints, art works and movies based on H. R. Giger’s work here on the Internet. One such famous work I’m also sure that does come into mind for all of you is the infamous Xenomorph from the movie “Alien” including all of the other Alien derivatives that had spawned off of that. Now you get to witness the genius behind all of those creepy, weird and mainly mind-blowing works of art and creatures that continue to thrill us. And in some cases make us want to use them for furniture such as this “Alien Coffee Table“. ;)

If any of you are wondering when this little video was taken…it was during the production for the movie “Species II” which was chock-full of Giger works and characters.

    H. R. Giger, love his work. I recall fondly back in the 5′th grade (I was a weird kid, ok?) taking some postcards of his art to show and tell because I liked the Alien movies at the time. I was on the third piece of art, when someone just had to point out that the pictures I was passing around were mostly composed of hidden v-jays, penis shafts and nipplage. Well. That was awkward.

But… it did add to my popularity. Kids, go figure. *shrug*

It’s too bad H.R. Geiger never got any money for his alien designs. But his work is awesome, stolen or not!
