    For several years in Seattle, just off I-5 there was a house which had started to lean in a similar fashion when its foundation was undermined by flooding. In that case, it was too severe (and too damaged) to correct, and the house sat abandoned for quite a while before finally being demolished.

    What a lot of people don’t realize is the incredible plasticity of mortar. Given twenty years of a very slow and strong force, you could bend a brick wall double without the mortar cracking once.
