The Map of Humanity

Posted by Alex in Everything Else on September 13, 2007 at 11:54 pm

The Map of Humanity by Rex Libris and Nil creator James Tuner is a giant atlas listing human emotions, states of mind, characters and such, placing real and fictional locations in their (mostly) appropriate territories.

If you look closely at the larger picture, you’ll see that Bangkok and Los Angeles are next door to each other in the land of Hedonism, just west of Depravity. Las Vegas? Why, it’s in the province of Greed, which borders Envy.

Fun stuff! Link - Thanks Gitai!

Quite a few of the cities are repeated. I saw a couple of Belfasts, Pragues, and Londons.

    This is very neat, though.

That’s pretty cool - yet horribly depressing. It’s like bernard black got creative with an atlas before sculling back a handful of xanax.

that’s too bad I can’t find anyway to enlarge the image on their page. I’m very curious if there’s any positive emotions on there, like love, and just how much landspace they ascribe to it….. it says alot about their emotional states & view of the world. Thank god it’s not real…. or is it?

There is a “View Larger Image” link on the webpage directly under the picture.

If you look at the large version you’ll see that the whole top half of the map seems to be devoted to positive emotions. And there is a utopia island in the top middle.
