Here in Chicago local radio stations use LOL all the time on their billboards.
Also, a local college has an ad running right now that says “Brings a whole new meaning to OMG”

There are a couple of LOL festivals here in Canada. Right in my hometown there has been a sign up for over a year advertising LOL Sudbury.

I think LOL has entered the lexicon at this point.
