Basic Instructions Comics by Scott Meyer

Posted by Alex in Blog & Internet, Cartoon & Comic on September 10, 2007 at 2:48 pm

Fans of Scott Meyer’s Basic Instructions comics already know this: his web comic strips are funny (in a sly sarcastic way, but that’s what makes it special).

Scott’s comics center on "basic instructions" on how to do things that are undoubtedly very important in life, like how to seem smart and how to fake a smile – yet no one seemed to ever tell you exactly how to do them.

Yeah, he kind of does have a "coupe longueuil", otherwise known as a mullet, so the hirsute Quebequois label does work. The mustache is a dead give-away.

The guy on the left has that facial hair around his mouth that looks like a French tickler or the hair around a woman's rudepart, so I do think that neither of them should stand in a condescending position to the other. Besides, shaved heads are really trendy these days. Funny comic, though.

I once told one of my work superiors that she was a dissembler. She didn't get mad so I know she didn't know what it meant :-)
