This is an amazing program for image editing. I can’t wait for this to be included in a version of photoshop.

I was really impressed with how good the outcome looks when you expand an image beyond it's original size.

    Really cool.

The researcher has actually been hired by Adobe already!

Wow that's really cool! great link!

I wonder how much more prevalent this will make fake photos (that claim they are real)

I suppose you could use that to cut ex-members from family group photos as well.

Instantly erase that ex-girlfriend you hate so much!

    Haha.

I saw this a little while back on Gizmodo. The technology is really really cool. Yeah ... Adobe would be out of their minds not to hop onto this. So we'll probably see this in Photoshop CS 4? Coming to you in 2010.

    *sigh*

If this is a smart, useful, professional-level image editing tool, I can assure you Adobe will have nothing to do with it.

They've barely updated their antiquated interface once in 15 years. At least this researcher will probably take home a fat paycheck.

Sorry for the re-post. I've been a little busy and haven't been keeping up with the daily posts of everyone else. Apparently I wasn't the only one to miss it though.

Duplicates happen... Heck, even I re-post stuff and I'm on Neatorama practically every day! It's definitely a new and interesting technology.

And thanks for the new info, t-rex!

    That is very cool.

Photoshop may be becoming a bit outdated but I think that, as it stands, you can accomplish most anything you would like to.

That is not to say that I don't think we could use some more cool stuff for photoshop :P

    Hi,
If you are looking for a software to try out seam carving, take a look at http://www.thegedanken.com/retarget

The program that you can download there (for Windows and Linux, and free) is already highly optimized concerning speed, and apart from enlarging or decreasing image size you can also use masks to protect or delete certain parts of your image.

    Have fun,
    Irmgard
