It seems that most of the commenters here have a somewhat distorted view as to IQ actually means. It is not a measurement of one's general knowledge -- such a test would either be critically flawed or exorbitantly lengthy. In either case, useless. Rather, it is simply a quantitative approximation of one's capability to analyze data and synthesize conclusions.

Your data may prove to be useful-- i.e. the occupational distribution of IQs-- but your pejorative comments, eg. "troll be gone," are not!

Why doubt it my good eyesopensceptic? You are correct of course, I do not have a 164 I Spelling errors??? So what? I speak 4 languages. But why doub my IQ that based on a few spelling mistakes? Its the content that is important in the first hand is it not?
My work not only wins awards but makes me a very considerable amount of money also.
My point was that occupations should have a higher level of knowledge within the occupation. You would not expect an artist to have the same level of knowledge about law as alawyer would you?
Wisdom, as our friend above comments, now that is the most desirable.
Take care and get as much you as you can from every day.. oh and try not to be too sceptical.It aint good for the creative juices.

IQs have nothing to do with wisdom or social skills. Normally these tests ae studied for so that the poor sod has somthing to brag about when drinking in the pub. IQ tests and the membership is an attempt at being an elitist.
Intelligence is subjective. Wisdom and knowledge is about being able to create something worthwhile.
Some have an aptitude for IQ tests and nothing else.
No generalising about profesions average IQ is rubbish.
Ask a legal occs about art or the classics; knowledge level 0 but they will buy the art works and listen to opera singers who they would love to emmulate.
I'll stay with my 164 level IQ and have fun thanks.

Why are medical occupations so much higher than the other jobs? As far as I can tell, all doctors need to do is memorize parts of the body. While memory is part of intelligence, doctors are less intelligent when measured by the linguistic or mathematical parts of intelligence when compared to most of these other professions.

Hauser is a social scientist at the University of Wisconsin Madison.

I guess that rating would be too embarrassing.

I've met a LOT of professors who would rate far below 100 on IQ for general knowledge but they have one small area of expertise that gets them accolades.
