Glamping: Glamorous Camping for the Rich

Glamourous camping or "Glamping" is a new trend for the rich: going back to nature in style and luxury!

After typing "luxury" into a Google search along with "camping" and "Montana," the couple settled on The Resort at Paws Up, a 37,000-acre getaway in the heart of Big Sky country. It’s a place for affluent travelers who want to enjoy the outdoors but can’t fathom using a smelly outhouse, a place where paying someone to light the campfire is a badge of honor, not the mark of a Boy Scout flunky.

[The family] shelled out $595 a night — plus an additional $110 per person per day for food.

It’s a hefty price to sleep in a tent, but the perks include a camp butler to build their fire, a maid to crank up the heated down comforter at nightfall and a cook to whip up bison rib-eye for dinner and French toast topped with huckleberries for breakfast.

I live in Missoula, MT about 30 miles from Paws Up and felt obliged to comment. BTW, when the Rolling Stones played Missoula last year (their first time in Montana) they stayed out at the ranch. While it's far from authentic, at least it provides a good seasonal income to the people that live here.

Did they actually hike, or did they just get someone to record a hike for them and then watch it on a plasma? There are people starving and living in subways and people spend their money on this shit. Unbelievable.

I meant the paying customers...the proprietors are friggin geniuses!

I'm wondering if they have an anti-mosquito valet that swats them away.
