I mean, how difficult would it be to leave behind someone else's resume? Someone who resembled you. The 'witnesses' would all be biased to identify the person whose picture was on the resume. Likewise when someone "uses their own" deposit slip -- perhaps it was just some random dudes deposit slip, but the police are going for the easy solve. Not that I'm underestimating the propensity for criminals to do stupid things, but the police are just as stupid sometimes.
