Wake-up Angel

Posted by Alex in Gadget on August 16, 2007 at 12:45 pm

The Wake-up Angel pictured to the left is an "ear alarm" that vibrates to wake you up if you happen to fall asleep when you really shouldn’t (like when driving or studying):

You place it behind the ear and if your head angle turns 30 degrees or lower, the Wake-up Angel will vibrate. There are four different levels to adjust at what angle the vibrator should be activated.

if you were driving by the time your head drops it'd probably be too late.
how about one that reads how closed your eyes are and if they get too droopy it sticks a load of pins in you

Nothing new here. Popular Science (I think it was) had an article on how to make your own. Sometime around the early 60s, if I remember, using a mercury switch from a thermostat.

What if my head doesn't tilt when I fall asleep sitting?

I own a similar device, except it has a LED light attached. It's good for all-nighters, but I'd never use it to drive.
