No, you can’t pull your fingers apart, but you can move them horizontally from each other dropping the money that way. But if they’re drunk, they probably won’t think of that.

I don’t get it. To win the guy’s money, you don’t try to pull your fingers apart, you do the opposite. If they close the extended fingers, the money will fall right out.
