On August 4, 2006, at X Games 12 [wiki] in Los Angeles, Travis Pastrana [wiki] became the first rider to land a double backflip in competition.

    They're still doing X Games (two of them actually: X Games and Winter X Games). The 2007 X Games in next week or something like that.

    Jonno - I'm not as impressed ... I do double backflips in my sleep.

    Oh, and underwater. They need to add syncro swimming to the x-games. Maybe syncro swimming on motorcycles. Now THAT'S extreme.

    In all seriousness though, that was pretty cool.

    I was flipping through the channels on the day this took place and just happened to stay long enough on ESPN to see this happen. I didn't know it had never been done before.
