Sam Loyd's Cyclopedia of Puzzles

MathPuzzle has an excellent scan of Sam Loyd’s [wiki] Cyclopedia of Puzzles, a compendium of math puzzles published in 1914. Link

Can you guess the answer to the Office Boy’s Puzzle above? What does the sign say?

I'd say it is actually Trustees' Room (Trustees is plural)

Is 'truss' even in the vernacular anymore?

Most (young) people will be scratching their heads wondering how 'A-frame' fits.

My officemate suggested it was a 'wooden triangle'.

    ...we're dumb

Truss is still in use, an 'A-frame' is a style of house.

    Truss is too obscure.

And what the heck is the "Trustee's room"?

And the office boy looks about 40 yrs of age.

I'm 31 and I got truss off the bat. I don't think it's that obscure.

I think "Trustees' room" is probably referring to a room for meetings of a corporation's Board of Trustees.

Same as Ben. I'm 18 and I didn't have a problem with it.

Heheh, I'd go with TheGoodReverend's answer, but I think it sounds better as "Triangle Titty Room"...
