Monkey Steals the Peach

To see how this (shudder!) dreaded ninja technique of Monkey Steals The Peach, see: http://www.mopo.ca/2007/07/monkey-steals-peach.html

You've been forewarned.

"I think I actually *own* the book this is from?

No, this is definitely not the work of Stephen Hayes. Hayes is a legitimate Ninjutsu instructor. This is from one of Ashida Kim's books. I think it's from his "Ninja Hands of Death" book. I'm not 100% certain of this though. For those who don't know Ashida Kim is one of the biggest martial arts frauds in existence. His books are pure fiction. You do get a good laugh from the odd segment though. I must admit to laughing at the 'monkey steals the peach' when I first saw it.

My ninja roommate confirms that this is from one of the "shitty kim" books. We have been making "monkey steals peach" jokes for quite a while now, and even have the cat practicing a fairly accurate strike. We call that "kitty steals leechee", though.

The name of the "technique" is actually derived from some cheesy HK martial arts films from at least the 70s. In real life it is easily deflected with a inward knee rotation.

HEY! I actually owned the Stephen Hayes book as a kid! Used to think I'd grow up to be a ninja and all that. Now I just blog for fun - how sad.... BRB, must steal some peaches...

Actually, this particular slide is from this little gem from the 70's / 80's:

World's Deadliest Fighting Secrets

Authored by this guy:

The technique did appear in Ashida Kim’s book, Ninja Hands of Death

http://fliiby.com/file/41521/le14p4oyag.html

It appears on page 13. On page 3, he credits the technique to the BDFS.

Monkey steals the peach was actually a required one-step in my taekwondo club and organization I was a member of in my teen years. Of course it would work, your just grabbing the family jewels, ripping them and smashing them.

Whether Ashida or anyone else published it is completely irrelevant to the move in question.
