Finnish javelin thrower Tero Pitkämäki accidentally speared French long-jumper Salim Sdiri at the Golden League meeting in Rome on July 13, 2007. Sdiri, who was rushed to the hospital, actually wasn’t too badly injured and is expected to recover.

That is one scary looking accident. I sure hope the unexpected target will recover!
The thrower looks like he is way out of whack from the beginning of his throw.

Umm, this reminds me of a funny story. A girl at my school got speared with a javelin because she stupidly ran across the field. She wasn’t hurt badly either, but she’s now known as Javelin Jill…
