These restraints are notsupposed to be a long term use; they are intended for emergency, multi-person issues where you have to restrain a number of people but the heavy duty equipment is not available - if you have 20 people to restrain, you may not have 20 cuffs which can range $50 each. Too expensive for that many cuffs for an officer and some departments. These need to be used sparingly and you have to thoroughly search and supervise. Can't always have the best of everything.

I just carry around a card that says, "Don't Tase me Bro!" in 7 languages.

Of course, after you escape from this handcuff, the cops would be more likely to taser you...

I agree with the fact that they should have been tightened all the way. It looks like he could slip his hands out of them already, without the need of using a pin.

Plus, I've seen cops use regular heavy duty zip-ties more than I've seen these.

Indeed, tighten them tightly and put them behind your back. Now, regardless if you have a pin at your disposal removal of the cuffs will be a real hassle, especially if you have to do it quickly in a magic act.

They really should superglue the palms of potential suspects together instead since the chance that people are going to carry around solvants aren't all that high :P

If the guy in the video had actually tightened them snugly on his wrists it would have been a different story.

No problem fluff. :)

But I've seen these types of handcuffs being used on "Cops". At least they looked exactly the same to me. And it seems as if others seen it too.

Sorry for the harsh comment.

BUT THIS IS PATHETIC.

Think one second ahead. These are just cable binders. No surprise you can open them with a pin.

I am a little disappointed with this post.

(sorry; I'm in teh bad mood...)
