		<description>This is apparently in the pop culture of Japan, as one of them made an appearance on the animated series Inu-Yasha (Saint Hakushin, I believe), a monk who sealed himself into a tomb to purify a mountian of the demons living there.  

Of course, popular referance is not conclusive evidence, but at least it is less likely that it is something that was made up by westerners.</description>
