What is It? Game 27.

Posted by Alex in What Is It on June 28, 2007 at 3:14 am

This week’s collaboration with What is It? Blog brings us this strange object: can you guess what it is? More clues at What is It? Blog.

Place your guess in the comment section – and please, post no URL; let others play. No T-shirt this week, you’re playing for bragging rights only.

Update 6/29/07: It’s a device for holding shirt sleeves: Patent number 640,080. No one got it right, but there were many creative guesses!

It is a winder for a string or a line ,it has the opening clasp so that it can be placed over a continous line.

Looks like something that would be used to remove Guinea Worms (skin parasite.) The head of the worm would be hooked on the spindle and the knob would be given a couple of cranks every day to slowly remove the parasite over time.

Its a Scovuncial Clasp, usually just called a 'clasper.' Traditional Irish clog dancers frequently suffer from embarassment when their strenuous dances cause the breast bands of their authentic 13th century styled under garments to loosen and drap from their blouse fronts in an unseemly fashion. This small clasp helps them maintain their dignity, even while performing the "hunting eels in a septic bog' routine.

DUHHH!!! they're baby handcuffs. You only need half because the hands are so small... And the little spikes? Because big spikes are just wrong.
