Fatherly wisdom

I thought this list of tidbits of wisdom a father could pass along to his children was a really neat idea. Unfortunately, some of the 23 suggestions in the article fall short of things I’d consider family heirlooms. “A passion for tax-free growth?” Huh? Fortunately, nothing is standing in the way of us creating our own lists. What are some of your best ideas? Share them here, please! Thanks. Link at MensHealth.com.

Let the Fark-ification continue....jeez, Men's Health? It's the male Cosmo, only not as smart. Aim a little higher, please.

I have to agree -- this passes for wisdom?

Fark.com. Some time ago they began to post "items of interest" that were actually paid ads. Men's Health was one of those sponsors, and was widely derided as one of the worst magazines on the planet. Just have a look-see for yourself.

I have nothing against advertising per-se, but do have something against disguising ads as blog posts, no matter how inane. Yes, I know - I don't have to read this blog or make snarky accusations, so maybe I won't anymore.

    OK:

    1. Yeah - "Men's Health Magazine" sucks for sure, but that's beside the point.
    2. I think the IDEA is neat. I've explicitly come here seeking your wisdom. Didn't I say in the post that some of the list items suck? (A good CARVING KNIFE?!). Add something to the list, wiseass!

And for the record, neither Alex nor I are getting paid by Men's Health Magazine.

But I happen to think a good carving knife (or a good set of knives, actually) _is_ essential... ;-)

Sponsored posts are labeled as such - sometimes, we do feature viral ads and neat gadgets without getting any compensation for them, just because we think they're neat.

My dad bought me an electric carving knife... It came in its own case. It *is* essential, dammit! I LOVE YOU DAD!

For a higher target in the quest for wisdom, try the Book of Proverbs.
