Keep Calm and Carry On.

This basically summed up the British attitude: a reproduction of an old World War II poster urging British citizens to "keep calm and carry on." (No color-coded threat level necessary back then!)

This has a kind of nostalgic whimsy, but would be so out-of-place these days. I remember the poster campaign recently that seemed to be trying to emulate this kind of benevolent patrician condescension. It was for CCTV on buses, and went something like “Safe beneath watchful eyes”, only it came off as creepy and Big-Brother-ish.

The shrill alarmist media of today would have none of this ‘Keep Calm & Carry On’

    More like ‘Terrorism Oh Sh*t!’

I think this posters reflects how most residents of the uk felt after 7/7. Unfortunatly the sensationalists media dont have the same view.
