This scooter lets you “mush”, no matter how good the weather is. Putting the dog at the side, behind the steering wheel, lets him see how you are steering. Link -via the Presurfer

Wow. I'm surprised a quality website would feature something like this...I mean...that's some pretty severe animal exploitation. Just my opinion.

That is what animals are for, other than food.

Working dogs were bred to work. Having a sled dog mushing or a border collie herding is just something they do naturally now...speaking from experience, they're FAR happier doing what they were bred to do than sitting around as pampered little pooches that don't get a chance to do what they do best. Every dog I've worked with, whether we had it doing what it was bred to do or not (i.e. teaching goldens how to herd) was healthier and happier than when they worked than when they didn't.

Perhaps if these were, say, wolves before we bred dogs specifically for what they do, it would be exploitation, but as it is, these dogs are probably far happier than sitting around in their happy little suburbanite homes.

It's difficult to gauge the amount of seriousness in Jenny's post... Putting dogs to work is something men have done for a very long time.

In any case, Jenny, you made me chuckle. And if you are completely serious, that would make me laugh a lot harder.

It's actually a great idea to get your dog some exercise. Dogs have a lot more energy to spend than us poor humans, and most breeds will leave us in the dust. I know my blue healer does not get tired nearly as fast as I do.

This is a pretty clever idea.

Anyhow, man was given dominion over the animals for just this sort of purpose.

These things would revolutionize personal transit -- just like the Segways did!

Whoa, Jenny, you need a reality check. Do you have any idea how much energy a big dog has? We could be harnessing that energy on treadmills. We'd rescue a lot of strays by using them in factories.

This is not horrible or severe. Stupid, maybe. Not great exercise for the human, and that extra bar on one side looks dangerous for people passing by.

I would love to see one of these going downhill, or some kid flying off when Rover sees a squirrel.

I thought the same thing, Ted; Great until a squirrel or rabbit crosses your path. Or another dog.

    begin Yosemite Sam voice
    "Whoa dog! Whoaaaaa!
    I SAID WHOAAAAA!"
    end Yosemite Sam voice

i think the extra bar is for another dog ..i believe it must be an error on their part for leaving it on/empty.
