It's 4:30 AM. On XMas Eve. I am laying on the couch, unable to sleep. Why? Because I am so angry and disgusted at my man for leaving his pee all over the seat for me to sit in. Not that this hasnt happened before. It all started after we moved in together, i was pregnant and regretfully asked him to put the seat down when hes done. Now he doesnt lift it to pee at all. i have even caught him wiping the rim with t.p. afterwards! Now i wish i would have kept my mouth shut because it is as easy 4 me to put it down before as it is 4 him after, and i would much rather lower a lid (and know it isnt covered in urine) than get up in the middle of the night to get it all over myself and end up so pissed off (or i guess i could say,"pissed on") that i end up on the sofa posting about it. i just dont see why he cant lift and lower everytime because thats what most men have the courtesy to do. Should i talk to him about it or take more drastic measures since talking hasnt worked? please help, guys!

The missing factor is the gender difference in voiding frequency. Men and women in their 30s (prime age for marriage and living together) have different norms: women urinate an average of 6.2 times per day, men 4.3. Therefore, the down position receives the greater use and is the better default. As people age, their voiding frequency becomes more equal - women go less often, men more often. By the 70s, it's just about the same. So by this time, when arguing about money, the kids, and infidelity has lost its zing, the position of the seat is more of a 50-50 proposition and is always there to fight about.

Dr. Nino Greasemanelli (the Greaseman) stated on his radio show that all men should put the seat down.

Reason 1) If you are in a relationship with a female, and you always put the seat down, if you return to your domicile, and the seat is up, you then know that some strange man was there.

Reason 2) If you are that strange man (noted in reason 1, above), if you always put the seat down, the cuckold will never know you've been there.
