Pistol Shrimp’s Sonic Weapon.

Here’s something amazing: the pistol shrimp uses its claw as a sonic weapon!

As the claw snaps shut it fires a blast of bubbles. Incredibly as the bubble collapses it momentarily reaches the temperature of the sun. This implosion causes a shockwave that stuns.

I wonder if sonoluminescence as been detected in the cavitation bubble from the pistol shrimp? Also, this type of bubble collapse can occur on ship propellers, and are able to seriously degrade the material structure of the propellor. How does the shrimp prevent its claws from becoming pitted and degraded by this?

Finally, is nuclear cold-fusion also happening here? Maybe the gamma ray burst is another part of the shrimp’s arsenal.
