10-Month-Old Baby Got Licensed to Carry Firearms.

Posted by Alex in Baby & Kids, Weapons & War on May 27, 2007 at 3:16 am

Howard "Bubba" Ludwig is not just any 10-month-old baby boy. He can’t walk yet, but he has a license to buy, own, and carry firearms!

As a FOID cardholder, baby Bubba can own a firearm and ammunition in Illinois. He can also legally transport an unloaded weapon — though he can’t walk yet, so that’s not an issue.

The plastic card has a picture of a toothless, grinning Bubba in the upper right corner. It includes his name, address and date of birth.

The FOID card lists his height (2 feet, 3 inches), and his weight (20 pounds).

His signature is superimposed at the bottom of the card. Bubba can’t sign his name, so I simply placed a pen in his hand. He made the scribble.

The story gets funnier: turns out the reason Bubba got the card was because his grandpa bought him a 12-gauge Beretta.

For ignorant comments like yours, Americans could care less whether you like us or not. Good grief, fluff; read the article.

The author got the card for his son, who was given a trap shooting gun from his grandfather. "Grandpa Ludwig, an avid trap shooter, explained he wanted an heirloom for his first grandson. He plans to engrave his name on the trigger guard."

There is no age restriction on owning a firearm, thus no restriction on having a license to own a firearm. FOID is short for Firearm Owner's IDentification. The Neatorama post's title is a little misleading in saying little Bubba is licensed to "carry" firearms.

That does absolutely not matter to me. It's the fact, that his grandfather knows no better but to give a gun to his kid as a heirloom. How sick is that. But I don't expect you to understand that. I guess it's a cultural difference or something.

'Grandpa could keep Bubba's gun in his gun safe. On our son's birthday, he and Grandpa could go to the trap club for the inaugural shoot.'

The kid isn't going to be anywhere near the gun. Stop flipping out.

Your ignorant, classist bigotry is showing!

What better to give a grandson. As Thomas Jefferson wrote:

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." (Thomas Jefferson, Encyclopedia of T. Jefferson, 318 [Foley, Ed., reissued 1967]; Thomas Jefferson to Peter Carr, 1785. The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, [Memorial Edition] Lipscomb and Bergh, editors)

That's a great quote, Izzy. Thanks!

And I guess we can't expect someone like fluff to understand how a gun can be an heirloom. Must be an American thing.

Oh wait; Grandad bought Bubba a Beretta — manufactured by an Italian company!

Why do you need a foid card to have or transport a gun in th U.S.? Ever read the book .. more guns less crime? Sorry fluffy but you need to move to Australia or England and see what your position gets you. Registration=confiscation. Looks like this kid will grow up responsible and educated in the works of freedom. Too bad you didn't fluff!

No drinking until the age of 21, but guns for babies. Go figure.

Yeah, go feckin' figure. You foreign retards are severely lacking in logic and rational thinking. Would you be squalling like a little bitch if the grandpa had left a 1959 Caddy for the boy? After all, he's just a baaaaaby, he can't drive. It should be a criiime! Meh. You assclowns are a joke.

Whats wrong with a damn gun? So what the kid has a gun, its not like he is going to shoot any body. You anti american assholes need to calm down.

"....grow up responsible and educated in the works of freedom. Too bad you didn’t fluff!"

That made me burst out with laughter. Seems that for you the most important part of freedom is about guns, right?

Knives are a lot more functional in life than guns. Cutting a potatoe must be quit difficult with a gun.

"Seems that for you the most important part of freedom is about guns, right"

Seems to me as though guns brought us freedom back in the late 1700's, and continue to guarantee our freedom today. Anyone who doesn't realize this is, well, retarded or european.

My grandfather left me an antique double barreled shotgun. It's a gift I treasure to this day. Fluff, you're an idiot.
